In this article, I offer some reflections on urban and rural spaces where migration is experienced. I discuss circumstances linked to the danger of traveling through certain environments and one of the emotions evoked, such as fear, as well as discrimination and intimidation in anthropological fieldwork. I also refer to my privileges and oppressions, as well as those of some men and women who agreed to collaborate with me, sharing their experiences during the process of temporary labor migration to Canada and New Zealand. In my case, variables such as academic qualifications, class status, and age may have played a role, but the fact that I am a woman was certainly a determining factor. These variables (education, age, social class, and sex/gender) also affected the privileges and oppressions of the informants, albeit in different ways.
