Abstract

Interdisciplinary work is essential for understanding, describing and analysing, from different perspectives, phenomena inherent to the architectural space in heritage buildings, such as their resilience and evolution in a context of climate change under the precepts of sustainability. Dimensions such as historical memory, which describes the identity of a community, resilience in buildings, and bioclimatic principles clearly establish the need to integrate comprehensive climate analysis strategies for buildings that were constructed under different environmental conditions and needs than those to which they must now adapt in order to achieve resilience and prolong their useful life, not only as a witness to history but as a sustainable building in the fullest sense of the term. With this in mind, we present the house donated by Professor Baudelio Candanedo in 1971 to Zacatlán de las Manzanas in the state of Puebla, whose use was changed on several occasions throughout history before its donation and current use, which had a significant impact on the construction stages that we can observe today. Consequently, the methodological application of bioclimatic principles together with the historical approach to the building that now houses the Baudelio Candanedo public library is a prudent exercise for understanding the analysis and diagnosis of the pathologies that cause deterioration in the building materials and the interior environment, when levels outside the hygrothermal comfort range for users become evident.
