ETHICAL PUBLICATION POLICY
URBEāctio, the Journal of Urbanism, Territory, and Architecture of the ESIA Tecamachalco of the National Polytechnic Institute, is committed to respecting and enforcing ethical standards throughout the publication process.Authors of submitted articles and works will comply with ethical principles and current legislation on copyright and intellectual property rights specific to Mexico and international intellectual property law.
The editorial team of URBEāctio, the Journal of Urbanism, Territory, and Architecture, is committed to managing the article appropriately and within the established deadlines, and to safeguarding the authors' data, arguments, and interpretations until the article is published. The journal promotes and adheres to international ethical standards (COPE 1 https://publicationethics.org/) that seek to eradicate the following practices: 1. Plagiarism 2. EDITORIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Editorial Team is committed to considering for publication all articles submitted on time and in the correct format, provided they meet the requirements outlined in the call for papers and the publication guidelines.
- The Editorial Team will evaluate the articles with experts in the field, preserving the anonymity of the authors.
- The Editorial Team will maintain a communication channel that allows authors and reviewers to clarify any doubts during the editorial process.
- The Editorial Team has full authority to accept or reject an article under the following circumstances:
- It does not align with the theme of the call for papers or the journal's focus.
- It does not comply with the editorial guidelines.
- It does not meet the journal's minimum standard of scientific quality.
- The blind peer review is negative.
- The authors do not incorporate the suggestions and requests of the reviewers or the Editorial Team.
- Plagiarism issues exist.
- Presents any ethical problems or controversies (e.g., plagiarism, simultaneous submission to two or more journals, among others).
- The Editorial Team and reviewers must not have any conflict of interest with the authors.
- The Editorial Team will provide the Errata Form for authors to submit corrections after the article has been published. Requests must be made in writing.
- In the event of a plagiarism complaint against one of the authors, the Editorial Team is obligated to form an Ethics Committee to evaluate the case and proceed to: report the complaint, impose sanctions, or resolve the appeal filed by the authors.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RIGHTS OF THE AUTHORS
By submitting this document, the authors ethically and responsibly declare that:
- The authors have contributed to the structure, design, and writing of the research on which the article is based.
- The data obtained in the empirical research, case studies, and/or laboratory work are original, their own, and authentic.
- The authors must include in the text the names or references of any team members who worked on the article but are not part of the article's research team, as well as sources of funding, government support, grants, etc.
- The authors grant the journal the rights to publicly communicate their article for dissemination through the OJS platform and for online access to its content.
- The authors must incorporate the suggestions or, if applicable, explain the rejection of the contributions made by the blind peer reviewers in a letter addressed to the reviewers.
This must be done within the deadlines requested by the editor.
- Authors have the right to withdraw their article from the editorial process, justifying their decision in a letter to the Editorial Team.
- The Editorial Team is obligated to notify authors of any complaint or objection from a third party (complainant) regarding plagiarism or lack of authorship.
They must also explain the appropriate process for both parties to present their defense and evidence.
- Do not submit your article proposal simultaneously to another journal.
- Declare the use of AI in your article proposal.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF EXTERNAL REVIEWERS
- Reviewers must decline the request sent by the Editorial Team if they do not possess sufficient competence, experience, and knowledge of the subject matter.
- Reviewers must report any potential conflict of interest in the document being reviewed.
- Reviewers must respect the deadlines requested by the Editorial Team.
- Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of the article—its data and theoretical and methodological contributions—throughout the editorial process.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
URBEāctĭo is defined as a free, open access publication.
- No costs for authors: No fees should be charged for manuscript submission or article processing, ensuring that knowledge circulates without economic barriers.
- Visibility: The primary objective is to explore the scientific and spatial dimensions of territory to foster a critical perspective applicable to urban and regional management.
- Editorial Ethics and Scientific Quality
The journal must adhere to rigorous ethical standards to ensure the integrity of research.
- Originality: Only unpublished research that has not been previously published or is not under review in other journals will be accepted.
- Peer Review: The evaluation process must be conducted by anonymous external peers (double-blind), ensuring impartiality and the technical quality of the reviews.
- Plagiarism Detection: Following the trend of the consulted sources, mechanisms for verifying originality must be in place to prevent academic misconduct.
- Approach to the Use of AI (Aligned with the Chapultepec Principles)
- Transparency and Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must explicitly declare whether they have used generative AI tools at any stage of the research or manuscript writing.
AI cannot be listed as an author, as it has no legal or ethical responsibility for the content [Information not present in the sources; [Proposed alignment according to industry standards].
- Human Responsibility (Oversight): The human author is solely responsible for the accuracy of the data, the interpretation of the results, and the integrity of the bibliographic citations generated or analyzed by AI.
- Non-Discrimination and Bias: In line with the principles of equity, the use of AI must be monitored to prevent algorithms from replicating biases based on gender, race, or geographic location, which are especially critical in planning and social housing studies.
- Intellectual Property Protection: The use of AI must respect the copyrights of third parties, ensuring that models have not been fed with protected data without consent.
- Indexing Systems
URBEāctĭo is part of the Latindex directory and, to ensure its impact, work is underway to be included in high-impact indexes and databases.
