OPEN CALL FOR PUBLISHING IN VOLUME 2,
NUMBER 4, APRIL 2026. Thematic dossier
entitled "Designing participatory
processes for territorial management and
regeneration".

URBEāctĭo. Revista de Urbanismo, Territorio y Arquitectura.

ESIA Tecamachalco. Instituto Politécnico Nacional.

URBEāctĭo. Journal of Urbanism,
Territory and Architecture is a
scientific publication of the
Postgraduate and Research Section of the School of
Engineering and Architecture of the
Instituto Politécnico Nacional. It is a
biannual, peer-reviewed, open-access
journal. Its vision is to disseminate
and present, through original scientific
publications, new inter- and
transdisciplinary theoretical and
methodological approaches that establish
and enrich the ongoing dialogue between
research in the fields of urban and
territorial issues and architecture,
with the aim of fostering new knowledge.

We are calling for submissions to the
thematic dossier entitled "Designing
participatory processes for land
management and regeneration," which will
be published in Volume 2, Number 4. The
dossier seeks contributions that address
and formulate innovative theoretical and
methodological frameworks for the design
of participatory processes inspired by
the principles of direct and cooperative
democracy in the management and
regeneration of urban and rural spaces,
with the aim of building, through these
interventions, higher levels of social
and environmental justice. In this call for papers, we invite
submissions to address issues related to
territorial and urban policies driven by
authoritarianism, paternalism,
corruption, extreme anthropocentrism,
and neoliberal logic. We seek concrete
theoretical and methodological proposals
to counter these current trends. We aim
to explore these topics in depth through
theoretical and methodological approaches
and the analysis of concrete experiences
in participatory territorial management
and regeneration. This Urbeactio. Journal of Urbanism,
Territory, and Architecture issue
welcomes proposals for academic articles
and reviews of original texts,
theoretical and/or empirical research,
on:

1.Debate on “representative democracy”
vs. “radical democracy” in territorial
management and regeneration
2.Debate on “neoliberal” territorial
management and regeneration vs.
“anti-neoliberal” territorial management
and regeneration
3.Debate on citizenship and the active
participation of citizens in the
physical and/or symbolic management and
reformulation of the territory
4. Theoretical and methodological
approaches to participatory urban
planning and architecture
5.Techniques to promote, guarantee,
and structure citizen participation in
the analysis of territorial problems and
in the processes of physical and/or
symbolic management and reformulation of
the territory Proposed manuscripts should be as
follows: 1. For scientific articles: between
6,000 and 8,000 words (30-35 pages)
2. For reviews: between 1,200 and 1,800
